The Role

Macquarie Medical Imaging (MMI), part of Macquarie University Health, is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead MRI Radiographer to join our Medical Imaging team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This senior clinical role provides hands-on MRI services while leading the day-to-day operational workflow of the MRI department, supporting staff capability development, and contributing to a high-performing, patient-centred imaging service within Australia’s first fully integrated academic health sciences precinct.

Working closely with Radiologists, imaging leadership and multidisciplinary clinical teams, you will deliver high-quality MRI services across a diverse caseload including outpatient, inpatient and research imaging, while providing leadership, supervision and mentorship to MRI Radiographers.

The role supports imaging services across three operating MRI scanners, including:

  • GE Discovery MR750 3.0T
  • Siemens Magnetom Vida 3.0T
  • Siemens Magnetom Sola 1.5T

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MRI Radiographer ready to step into, or further develop within, a senior leadership role in an academically integrated hospital environment.

Key Accountabilities

(Including but not limited to)

  • Provide high-quality diagnostic MRI imaging services across GE and Siemens MRI platforms.
  • Deliver MRI services for a wide range of patient presentations, including outpatient, inpatient and research studies.
  • Oversee daily workflow and operational coordination of the MRI department to ensure safe, efficient and patient-centred service delivery.
  • Provide formal and informal training, supervision, coaching and professional support to MRI Radiographers.
  • Support education and mentoring of junior, graduate and developing MRI staff.
  • Organise and actively participate in the MRI on-call roster as required.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, MRI safety standards, and continuous service optimisation.

Selection Criteria

Essential (Pre-requisites)

  • Post-graduate qualification in Magnetic Resonance Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years’ full-time equivalent experience as a qualified Radiographer with MRI experience.
  • Current registration with AHPRA.

Desirable

  • Previous experience managing or leading a team of MRI Radiographers, including mentorship, supervision and training.
  • Demonstrated understanding and hands-on experience with Siemens and/or GE MRI platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge of MRI requirements associated with research studies, including an understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and protocol management.

General Skills and Attributes

  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing continuing professional development.
  • Strong customer service focus, delivering care in a professional and compassionate manner at all times.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, electronic radiology practice management systems (e.g. COMRAD, Intelerad).
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload with limited or no supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and patient management systems.
